What is your magazine about?
Our magazine is about Junkfood (burgers, sodas, candies...) it does also celebrate democratic design and avant-garde food.
Who’s behind the project? Tell us about the founders, their backgrounds and their motivations!
Alexandra Jean who is textil designer & Pascal Monfort who is trends scout for Nike, journalist and teacher (Fashion sociology) Motivation : Becoming very famous without playing rock\\\'n\\\'roll.
How do you produce one issue? How much time do you spend on it? How big is your team?
1 334 563 000 hours without sleeping and watching TV. Big team of 2 people + friends.
What have been the important steps in the life of your magazine?
Its birth the 1st day of 2005.
Which are the key incredients for the success of your magazine?
Million magazines to celebrate fashion design....only 1 to celebrate junkfood design. It is the first and the best ever.
What are the difficulties you are confronted with? What would be “the” thing to help the magazine to improve?
A serious, rich and clever business partner, a big office and a distributor.
Where do you want the magazine to be in five years?
Keep being the best junkfood magazine.
Tell us about your audience! Who are the readers of your magazine?
Rock stars, Art directors, fast-eaters, skateboardes, business men, porn stars ...
Is remaining independent important to you? Is it part of the strategy?
God yes. Live free or die. That is the only way to create.
What’s your relationship with advertisement? Does it influence your content? Do you care about advertising-driven-editorials?
No advertising in YUMMY ....yet???
Do you think that magazine readers still need to watch TV?
Yes....to realize how bad it is.
Which is your relationship with your printer? Does he play a main role in your development?
He does a great job... and we pay him for that.
Which magazines did influence you most? What are you looking for in other magazines?
I.D, Purple & Pif gadget.
What do you think of your issue 01, when you look back at it?
I love the 1st issue for ever.
What question did you never ask in your magazine but would have liked to?

Too much ... really too much ... but never enough. Let say that we are magazinovor.

Pascal Monfort, Consumer Culture Manager for Nike, trends forcaster, taste maker and rock star from the band THE SHOPPINGS.
Alexandra Jean, textile designer, art director and rock fan.
How do you produce one issue? How much time do you spend on it? How big is your team?
We spend one year to produce one issue.
To make it, we need : ideas, taste, trips, love and fun.
Our team is composed of 2 people + friends & contributors.
What have been the important steps in the life of your magazine?
4 important steps :
- A trip in Tokyo where the idea of the magazine was born.
- The windows of Colette (influent store in Paris) to expose the first issue.
- Many articles about the magazine in influents medias and TV reports.
Which are the key ingredients for the success of your magazine?
Key ingredients :
Working with fun.
Working within freedom.
Working with love.
Working hard.
What are the difficulties you are confronted with? What would be the thing to help the magazine to improve?
We are to busy to publish more than one magazine a year.
We do hate looking for advertisement.
"the" think would be to find someone to sell adverts for us.
Where do you want the magazine to be in five years?
On Barack Obama's coffee table.
Tell us about your audience! Who are the readers of your magazine?
magazines lovers, punks, monarchists, gluttoons, art directors, fashion beast, party animals, you and Kate Moss.
Is remaining independent important to you? Is it part of the strategy?
Beeing independant is key.
Beeing free help you to be better.
Our strategy is to enjoy working on it. If we will feel bored...YUMMY is dead.
What's your relationship with advertisement? Does it influence your content? Do you care about advertising-driven-editorials?
We would love to sell more advertisement but we don't have time to work on it. Help.
It doesn't influence our content at all.
I don't have any problem with the fact that ads can drive editorials in fashion mags. That is the rules of a clever business system.
What do you think of your issue 01, when you look back at it?
It is superb. It is my first child so I love it.
Magazine favorite(s) that inspired you in your career.
I.D magazine. Terry Jones is my hero.
Do you keep old copies of magazines? If so, what is your favorite in your collection?
Impossible to throw any magazine away.
The first issue is my favorite because he does represent the dream which became true.
How many magazines do you buy / get / read each month? Do you qualify yourself a maniac?
On my CV, you can read : Magazinovor.
I am a real magazine junky. For my jobs and for myself, I do buy magazines every single day. Honestly, I do buy almost 50 magazines, fanzines and newspapers each month.
