Exclusive Interview
Anyway, independency is a state of mind.
What is your magazine about?
Whatever: cars, track suit-ism, teenage bedrooms, fame, niteclubbing, fashion, love, beauty, rock'n'roll, 10, kinky, luxury & misery, hair (from 2003 'till now). And more to come.
Who’s behind the project? Tell us about the founders, their backgrounds and their motivations!
John Smith and Jane Doe, journalists, being bored of their jobs at a national newspaper and with the mission of faking them fuckers out (but also fucking them fakers out).
How do you produce one issue? How much time do you spend on it? How big is your team?
With such a cheeky face. It depends, we can spend two, three, four or even six months. This is a labor of love and we're not in a hurry. We're as big as we want to.
What have been the important steps in the life of your magazine?
Birth. Keep on going.
Which are the key ingredients for the success of your magazine?
Ask that to our lawyers...
What are the difficulties you are confronted with? What would be “the” thing to help the magazine to improve?
Money, of course. More money, for sure.
Where do you want the magazine to be in five years?
Outer space.
Tell us about your audience! Who are the readers of your magazine?
Hipster kids, old fags, media darlings, supermodels, travesties, bodybuilders, hairdressers, other magazine editors, parents worried about their hipster kids' interests/vices. Who knows? Who cares?
Is remaining independent important to you? Is it part of the strategy?
Being independent is not a strategy, is the only way for us. Anyway, independency is a state of mind.
What’s your relationship with advertisement? Does it influence your content? Do you care about advertising-driven-editorials?
Amazing. In fact, we even influence the ads. And no, we don't care as much as the money talks. Hey, are you Louis Vuitton? C'mon; let's fake some bags!
Do you think that magazine readers still need to watch TV?
Absolutely!!! They must watch TV!!! We love TV!!!
Which is your relationship with your printer? Does he play a main role in your development?
Answer: This is the relationship with our printer:
-We: "Hey, how much do you want for this issue?
-Printer: "€€€€€€€€€€€€".
-We: "No way. Discount, discount!".
-Printer: "€€€€€€€".
-We: "Less, less!"
...And so on. So yes, he plays a main role in our development.
Which magazines did influence you most? What are you looking for in other magazines?
We're a meta-magazine, you bitches.
What do you think of your issue 01, when you look back at it?
Bravo!
What question did you never ask in your magazine but would have liked to?
If there's something we want to know about, we make sure we're going to ask about it.
How many magazines do you buy / get / read each month? Do you qualify yourself a maniac?
Sometimes too many, sometimes none, it depends. Maniacs? We're maniacs with or without magazines.
