Another Success Stories

“A Magazine curated by…”
By Jean L’Olivier
Sunday 12 pm - Project room

“Augmenting the magazine”
By Cosimo Lorenzo Pancini.

ego[n] is an Italian experimental magazine created by Florence-based graphic design studio Kmzero. It is presenting a call of entry for its new collection, which will be based on the themes of creative collaboration and generative design. In the footsteps of what Raymond Queneau did with his "Exercises in Style" by telling the same story in 99 different literary styles, ego[n] will invite ten different magazine makers to explore style variation by working on the same article - at the same time presenting their work ethic and method. Another experiment will be open to illustrators, proposing generative and combinatory approaches to the many forms of the "cute" designer character, in search of "the nature of the avatar". Finally, typographers will be invited to submit their work for our "fonts as process" section. Also included should be italian recipes, infographics, snowdomes and even more fonts.
Sunday 15 :00 – Main Auditorium

Panel Discussion on Digital Magazines

John Weich (ArtReview:Digital) and Emmanuel Vivier (Vanksen) will join René Lönngren (lecool). Panel moderated by David Renard.

Making a Magazine: call for entries

Share your talent: we are still looking for writers, photographers, designers and illustrators to cover the event. Particularly, we are looking for illustrators who can reflect a panel discussion in comic form, and photographers with an unusual point of view. If you would like to participate, please come to one of the editor's briefings or email kati@lecool.com.

“We Make Magazines”, the book
We make magazines

This book showcases more than 100 independent magazines from around the world. Featuring exclusive interviews and stunning layouts, it is a celebration of the energy and visual dynamite that can be found outside the publishing mainstream. This is your chance to discover a magazine about pain and beauty, a magazine for people who give a damn, and the (self-proclaimed) most melancholy magazine that’s actually anything but.

Released for Colophon 2009, distributed worldwide by Gestalten (Berlin) and available online at the publishers’ shop, right now
